Little Big Planet Reveal

My third entry to the little big challenge. A rumoured date is floating around the Internet about Little Big Planet’s release, so I envisioned how the game would be advertised in major cities, such as NYC. Textures play a major role in the game so screen printing the logos and the sackboys on all sorts of walls and floors would make sense. The overall look of the poster is taken from the look of the poster for the new Max Payne movie.

My 2nd entry into Media Molecule’s Little Big Challenge. When I first heard the concept for Little Big Planet, I immediately envisioned the definitive scene from the movie, 300. Here’s hoping that not only will the game allow me to recreate that scene, but I have the skill set to recreate that scene. Oh yeah, I have to get a PS3 as well.

Media Molecule recently created a competition to design the Little Big Planet logo. Here’s the first of, hopefully, many submissions over the next few weeks. I don’t even have a PS3, but thought this competition would be fun.

Top 10 Games That Scream “America!! F*#%k Yeah!”

The 4th of July came and went with a bang.  With my hearing finally returning, I bring you a list of the top 10 pro-USA games since the last time we celebrated America Day.  There is no better way to celebrate our country’s independence than by playing the best video games that exemplify the notion of “our country is better than yours.”

10. MLB ’08 – Playstation 3
The story of baseball is the story of America – overflowing with heroes and hopefuls, scoundrels and screwballs.  We cheer for the playmakers on the field and pray for miracles from the batters at the plate.  And all the while, we try to ignore the fact that some players are forced to get bigger helmets every year.   Whether the changes are natural or caused by steroids, just take me out to the ball game and get me some cracker jacks.

Re-review of Rainbow Six: Vegas

All the thrills and frills of the real Vegas, minus Celine Dion

For many, Las Vegas is synonymous with good shows, great food, and Celine Dion.  For others, Las Vegas will now be associated with hanging upside down with a Ranging Bull aimed at an oblivious terrorist while the rest of your team awaits your “open, frag and clear” command.

Vegas, baby.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas finds you and your team on the hunt for Irena Morales, a Mexican terrorist suspected of plotting a major assault on Las Vegas.  Commanding an army, and using over-the-top dialogue with a thick accent, Irena Morales comes very close to being a pretty cool Bond villain.  But that really doesn’t matter.

The main draw for Vegas isn’t the story, which is told via video feeds through the very swanky heads-up display.  It’s the combat; and there’s lots of combat.  And not the arcadey Doom-style combat from 2005’s Rainbow Six Lockdown; but a more sophisticated squad-based combat that merges Splinter Cell’s methodical gameplay with Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter’s ferocity (apparently, Ubisoft knows how to do combat).
