Top 10 Games That Scream “America!! F*#%k Yeah!”

The 4th of July came and went with a bang.  With my hearing finally returning, I bring you a list of the top 10 pro-USA games since the last time we celebrated America Day.  There is no better way to celebrate our country’s independence than by playing the best video games that exemplify the notion of “our country is better than yours.”

10. MLB ’08 – Playstation 3
The story of baseball is the story of America – overflowing with heroes and hopefuls, scoundrels and screwballs.  We cheer for the playmakers on the field and pray for miracles from the batters at the plate.  And all the while, we try to ignore the fact that some players are forced to get bigger helmets every year.   Whether the changes are natural or caused by steroids, just take me out to the ball game and get me some cracker jacks.

9. Grand Theft Auto IV – Xbox 360, Playstation 3
America stands as a beacon of light to a world thirsty for freedom.  It’s no surprise why so many people yearn to come here in hopes to live the American Dream.  This game is essentially the immigrants guide to being an American; Take what you want, do what you will, and look good doing it.

8. Rock Band – All Platforms
Some of the greatest bands on earth may be British.  But guess where they all go to make it big?  America the beautiful – that’s where.  Live every person’s fantasy of being a rock star by playing with plastic instruments, which will make your neighbors hate you more.

7. Bully: Scholarship Edition – Xbox 360, Playstation 3
If Grand Theft Auto 4 is the immigrants guide to be an American, then Bully: Scholarship Edition is the youths guide to American teen angst.  America may pale in comparison with the rest of the world in terms of public education, but our kids know how to coast through school like no one else.  And for all those C students in America, even you can be President one day.

6. Burnout Paradise – Xbox 360, Playstation 3
Driving is such an ingrained part of American culture that when gas prices rise, instead of conserving, we buy bigger SUVs with TV’s playing a NASCAR event on the back of every headrest.  Do your best impersonation of a California car chase as your drive with reckless abandon through the streets of Any City, USA.

5. Metal Gear Solid 4 – Playstation 3
If sending out a lone man against insurmountable odds sounds like your definitive American action movie, then this is the game for you.   Little known fact – the protagonist of this franchise, Solid Snake, was modeled after Michael Biehn from The Terminator.

4. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune – Playstation 3
Tomb Raider is fine if you’re into raiding tombs as a British chick.  But for those who love the NFL, NBA and NASCAR, we like our tomb-raiding protagonists able to pronounce “tomato” the right way.

3. Medal of Honor Heroes 2 – Nintendo Wii
The generation that volunteered to stop Hitler during WWII will forever be known as “The Greatest Generation,” thanks to countless movies and Tom Brokaw.  Honor their sacrifices by waggling your arms at the TV using the Wii controller.

2. Madden ’08 – All Platforms
Real Football is the game of yards, touchdowns, and tackles.  Not short-shorts and hooliganism.

1. Call of Duty 4 – Xbox 360, Playstation 3
I don’t know who said “war is a continuation of politics by other means,” but I’m pretty sure he would have loved modern day America and Call of Duty 4.  Sure, you can play as British SAS soldiers, but only the US Marines get to say “Ooh-rah!”  When you have defeated the evil-doers in the single player campaign, take the fight online against other players and spread your “politics.”

Good post. I think if someone is going for American…then this list of the top 10 games is almost flawless.

Maybe we can all become all-star-smart-ass-bully-war-fighting-race-car-drivers! And yell “Ooh-rah” while doing so.
